Okay, I'm a little ticked right now, but I need honest responses here.
I just went into Emma's backpack to look at her papers from today and to read what her teacher wrote about how her day was and there was a purple notice stapled to this week's page. It was a reminder to pay DECEMBER'S fee of $325. You may remember from yesterday's post that she DIDN'T GO A SINGLE DAY IN DECEMBER. So, therefore, I am NOT paying.
Am I wrong?
We do not have $325 to just give to the place. So, I guess I'll just not take her back? I don't know what to do. I know she's not going tomorrow because of this and I guess I'll just have to think on this for a day or two before I contact her teacher. I don't know what to do, but I know I am not happy.

when u signed her up did u sign a contract stating you are to pay so much amount of money each month, regardless of attendance? You may want to check on that. If so you may also try explaining to them how her daddy is always away and happened to be home at that time. If they don't waive it, they may prorate it for ya...
It is ridiculous how daycare and private schools can take ur money, claiming it's to hold their place....
Check ur contract and definitely talk to them!!!
Oh man!!!!! Okay, I feel the same way that you do! BUT...when Isabel went to preschool when we lived in Ann Arbor, even if she didn't attend school at all, we still had to pay because your paying for her spot. When I traveled to Bahrain to visit my family, I took her out of school for that period of time, but I called the school ahead of time to let them know and ask them if I "COULD NOT" pay for the entire month since she was gone (even though we were gone for 6wks). They said it was okay.
This is just my 2 cents worth...BUT...just call the school and tell them that Tony had come home and she only gets to see her dad twice a year because he works in Iraq. I'm sure that they would understand that and not charge you. Look over the paperwork you signed when you started her, it might say in there that even if she doesn't attend, that you still are obligated to pay, and you might have to give them a 2wk or month paid notice to take her out?
I feel for you girl!!! I know exactly how you feel. It's such a rip off!!!!
I get both sides. She IS taking a spot--which essentially is what pays for teachers and the preschool to be open....
HOWEVER, I get your side too.
And I agree you should give them a call and explain what happened.
Do you REALLY pay that much each month for PRESCHOOL!? If so, that's plain highway robbery. I have NEVER heard of such ridiculous fees! HOLY MOLY!
Yeah, I know exactly what you guys are saying, but I'm pretty sure I didn't sign a contract. I know I don't have a copy of anything. Also, they knew Emma wasn't going the whole month, I spoke to her teacher and told her why she wouldn't be there.
Either way, I've already paid this month's $325 fee and I certainly don't have $325 more to pay, so if they want that fee paid, I'll just not be taking her back.
And Rachel, you are very right. It is way too expensive for preschool. The ONLY reason she goes there instead of too another one that was less expensive is because this one is literally in view from my house and that makes me feel more comfortable. I didn't even want to put her in preschool, but my mom was driving me nuts about it and Emma really loves being around other children, so I gave in and put her there.
The more I've thought about it, though, the more upset I am about it. Last year when Tony was home, they prorated that month's payment.
Anyway, stuff like this makes me so upset!
I'm sorry about the situation! That would drive me crazy too!!
I totally would be fretting and ticked.
For them to know the situation, and still charge you is a little ridiculous.
All I can say is pray for peace in your heart. The more peaceful that you are, the better you'll be able to talk to the school.
Good luck. Up date us :)
Are you serious?!?! I was in the car right beside you when you called them while i was home! They told you not to worry about Dec. !!! What a bunch of crap!! No! DO NOT PAY THEM!!
