I have always been quite fond of these little page a day calendars. You know... they come out at the end of each year for the following year. I always get some of them for Christmas gifts and I always end up with at least one of them for myself. This year I have... well, several of them. I got a couple of them as gifts and then when they went on 1/2 off, I got a few more. They now sit in bathrooms, on tables and you know... everywhere. I love them.
This year I have this one...
so I can become even more of a master Scrabble player and kick Tony's butt even more big time when he's home. hehe. >:)
I also got the New York Times Crossword Puzzle a day one. Those things are HaRd. Seriously. I do the crossword at the back of people magazine IN PEN in about 10 minutes max. These New York Times puzzles are NO. JOKE.
I also have this little Zen one... I don't remember the name of it, but my mom got it for me. It says wonderful things each day. For Example, on the 1st, it said, " A smile is the beginning of peace. -Mother Theresa of Calcutta" I love little things like that to start my day off right. :)
Then the one that sits on the phone table in the kitchen... it's a Joel Osteen one. In case you don't know who he is.. he's the A-MAZING preacher from Houston who is so positive and uplifting. He makes me almost want to move to the sweltering heat of Houston just to be able to attend his mega church.
Today's page from that one says, "It is liberating to understand that you don't have to keep everybody happy. More important, I really believe that if you live your life just trying to please people, you will not be able to fulfill your God-given destiny."
I LOVE this!!! I am always so worried about this person or that person being mad at me or disappointed in me for not doing something they expected of me. I really need to learn to get past that. That is another of my things I want to accomplish soon. I want to learn that there is no way possible to make everyone happy, so the most important thing is to make sure you are true to yourself. Right? Right.
Okay, another one is the "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" book in the page a day form. LOVE IT!!!! Today's page from it says, "It seems that many of us have lost that sense of wonder and awe for the incredible gift of life itself. Instead at marveling at it all, we take life for granted." I know this is so true for me and I hope to get better at it.
And last of all... the one that sits on my kitchen counter is this one...
this one could possibly be my favorite. There are great quotes and lots of food for thought in this one. Yesterday was, "You don't have to put an age limit on your dreams" Dara Torres said that... she's the swimmer who came within 1/100th of a second of winning gold at the age of 41. I love this quote and I'm sure that as long as we never quit learning and growing, life will always be full of adventure and promise! :)

Welcome back!!!!! Yah!!!!! I just got my calander too, and I need to transfer the entire year of bdays and anniversarys to it.
Now I want to go buy a bunch of calendars, but I read ahead so then I have nothing to do past January 15 and get bored and then I don't know what day it is so the calendar doesn't really help.
I can't even do the beginner crosswords in pencil, so I am in awe of your crossword prowess!
Add yourself to my very important list of people who are lifting me up when I need it the most. Thanks! *hug* It means more than you'll know...
How can you sit there and lie to all these people! You can't beat me in scrabble! Lol...jk
In church on Sunday, my Lover spoke to our Sunday School class. Part of his lesson was about not caring so much what other ppl think...your sister, brother, mom and dad, friends, kids, and best of....YOU. it's only important to care about what Heavenly Father thinks of you.
If you move to Texas u better go to MY church with me. SO you can listen to more of Lover's talks. *wink*
So many good and uplifting quotes! Sounds like a great way to start the new year.
I love those calendars too!! :)
My mom would buy my Dad The Farside page-a-day calendar. We loved it, we would always flip through it giggling at all the cartoons. I think I'm gonna go find one.
